Car at auction 8/25

www.iconicauctioneers.com/1949-jaguar-mk-v-rec15515-1-silverston-0825

Auction description:

Lot Number 644

1949 JAGUAR MK V Saloon

Registration Number MAE 855

MOT Expiry Exempt

Chassis Number 620135

Engine Number T5274

Transmission Manual

Body Colour Bottle Green

This venerable 3½-litre spent its early life in the Bristol area before being purchased in 2004, by Ken Jones, a well known Rolls-Royce/Bentley collector and JDC member

A full professional restoration was commenced and was nearly complete before Ken sadly passed away in late 2008

It was then purchased by our vendor to add to his substantial Collection and has been garaged in a purpose-built, dehumidified facility since

For a variety of reasons, the restoration was not completed until recently, but the Mk V now starts and runs reliably and drives well. The whole fascinating story is detailed in our Seller Rating and we recommend interested parties take the time to read it

Classically presented in what we used to call 'Bottle Green' with a beautifully retrimmed, 1930s-style interior in dark cream leather piped in green, suede green carpets and figured Walnut veneers

Supplied with its original 'buff' logbook, numerous invoices, restoration photos and much more

Benefiting from a somewhat prolonged restoration and appearing sound throughout, this Post-War Jaguar sporting saloon would make an elegant weekend companion for years to come

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
