Nice & neat 1948 Jaguar Mk IV

Dove Grey with burgundy leather

Complete, well restored

Jaguar Heritage Certificate

Ready for further refurbishment

Jaguar’s MK IV has long been a favourite with enthusiasts, its elegant pre-war lines evoking an earlier era of automotive style while its post-war mechanical specification delivered a more modern – for its time – driving experience. This 1948 model is a nice, well-restored example that still leaves room for improvement for a keen new owner. Its accompanying Jaguar Heritage Certificate confirms it was produced on 8 September 1948 finished in Suede Green with a matching interior, however it is now presented here in Dove Grey with a Burgundy cabin. The leather-trimmed interior is excellent, the Burgundy seating looks great, as does the matching carpets and grey felt headlining. The woodwork is good too, so there’s little to be done there. However, the Dove Grey paint is tired with a few nicks and scratches, so perhaps that’s an opportunity to return this Jaguar to its original factory colour? There’s a bit of pickling to the chrome doorhandles too, another area that could be attended to. Sitting on silver-painted wire-spoken wheels, it has a sunroof and the tool tray in the boot retains about 99 per cent of its original factory tools. Its engine was rebuilt in 2008 and it comes with its original owner’s manual and service maintenance books, a Lucas electrical parts catalogue, various receipts and a few small spares. A nice car that would be easily improved further, our Jaguar MK IV has been on full Victorian registration but is being offered for sale here unregistered.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
