Sellers description:
1963 Jaguar Mark X
This particular car was delivered and registered in California from new. The original black and yellow license plates come with the car, and date the registration period to the early 1960's. There is no rust, or corrosion bubbling of any kind. The car was obviously garage kept, due to the exceptional cosmetic condition. There is an original 51,341 miles on the car and our examination of the car and records indicate that the mileage accumulated at the rate of approximately 2,000 miles per year from 1963 until 1990 or so, when the car was put into garaged storage and a total of several hundred miles covered up to present day.
A car is original only once, and full restorations erase qualities in a car that can not come back. This car did not need a full restoration, and we are able to present this car in a largely original condition. The red leather interior can not be duplicated. It is as good or better than the photographs show. The leather covers are uncracked, and the connective stitching is fully functional. The original aroma instantly reminds one of 1960's British luxury...
The original wood dash board and window surrounds are in fantastic condition. The rear seating area is equipped with the fold out tables, with perfect chrome, latches and mirrors. Overall wood condition throughout the car is very good to excellent. There are approximately 50 pieces of wood in the car, with the majority in perfect condition. The wool headliner is in top condition, and adds to a very luxurious feel of the interior cabin area.
The gold paint finish is in excellent condition with no dents or accident history. The doors and hood all close exactly with very precise latch action.. The numerous body chrome fittings also excel (benefit of garage kept cars).
We performed the following work to bring the car to operating status :
Complete brake rebuild as follows: rebuilt calipers all around, rebuilt dual master cylinders, and new brake hoses.
Fuel system service: remove fuel tanks for clean and coating service. Rebuild in-tank fuel pumps ( $$$ special pumps) Rebuild carburetors complete ($$$). New filters and hoses.
Full tune up and under hood service. Oil and filter change etc.
Transmission service and adjustment.
Generator and regulator service.
