On eBay, December 2006. Ad reads:
"An absolutely exceptional example of this 1964 Jaguar Mark X 3.8 sedan with it's original engine (rebuilt and detailed as original in 1964, original and rebuilt automatic transmission, after-market air conditioning equipment (not working), working heater, power brakes, new wheels and tires, new exhaust system and rebuilt front and rear suspension, complete and restored leather interior in 'Light Grey' leather with matching light grey headliner with matching light grey carpet and kick panel carpet, original and completely restored burled walnut wood interior, complete new seals (door, window, trunk etc) and all new chrome including chrome dual exhausts, front and rear bumpers, front grille, 2 small front grilles, fender guards, inner handles and lights, tail lights, rear view mirror and all door handles. No signs of any accident history and absolutely no rust whatsoever and lovingly restored with no expense spared - over $50K spent over five years in ground up restoration project with receipts and photos of process available. This car must be seen to be believed and driven to be fully appreciated - the rebuilt engine (by the renown 'Angelo's Jaguar Service' of Hollywood, California) is extremely strong and responsive with excellent oil pressure and no oil leaks and which sounds absolutely magnificent, the rebuilt transmission shifts smoothly through the gears and the engine temperature always remains cool. The car has been repainted in a 'Silver clearcoat' color with a professional and stunning finish. The restored leather and burled walnut wood interior is also absolutely gorgeous with all the options working except for the A/C which will need to be professionally connected before working. The Mark X was marketed by Jaguar as "Luxury rarely equaled, performance without peer. New monocoque construction and independent rear suspension afford a ride that is nothing short of phenomenal. Appointments are of the finest and typically Jaguar quality. Seats are of the finest glove leather, with those in front reclining. Cabinet work is hand crafted walnut, mated and matched. Walnut tables, each with a vanity mirror, fold rearward from the front seat-backs. Standard equipment includes power steering, two independent brake systems (power assisted), dual fuel pumps and lockable fuel tanks, automatic transmission with intermediate gear-holding for passing!" The Mark X offered the driver pure Jaguar luxury and performance at a reasonable price, reasonable that is, when compared to a Rolls Royce which offered slightly more luxury but less performance at a higher price! Jaguar introduced the Mark X in October 1961 at the London Motor Show. Here was a sleek modern sedan to replace the Mark IX with a monoque body that was longer and lower than it's predecessors, but built on the same wheelbase. The Mark X used the same 265 horsepower 3.8 litre XK engine and independent rear suspension of the E type to record some impressive statistics for a big car - 0-60 mph in under 11 seconds and a top speed of 115 mph! With only very few miles since it's restoration, this must be one of the finest example's available of this collectable and most desireable 1964 Mark X legendary Jaguar sedan, with no rust whatsoever, in rare turn-key ready driving condition of this daily appreciating and daily head-turning all time classic English pure-luxury sedan with it's original engine and restored with it's original specifications intact! Original fender tag reads: Car# 306622BW, Body# Z010895, Engine# ZB2070-8, Auto Trans#: JX9284. For further information contact Simon through EBay. This is a nice looking car, but the serial number decodes to a RHD car and this is very clearly a LHD example. Anyone out there have any insight?
