Ebay item 10/21/09
Jag-Lovers.com and the Internet in general, we're convinced that there simply aren't any more that have survived (this is true). We have been contacted by 2 people, one from France and one from Brazil, who are writing books on Jaguar, and want to include a piece about this Mark X. I'm sure Jaguar World and other publications would love to chronicle the retoration of this one of a kind beauty as well (this is true). We've had many inquiries about whether we would want to sell it in the past.

We are **extremely** reluctant to part with this car. We already have a lot invested in this car, but simply can't afford to do a first class completeion of what we've started. Sure, we could enjoy the car as a daily dry weather driver, but this really needs new paint, interior and a new top to become a $50,000 one of a kind showcar, which it deserves to be. We are avid Jaguar collectors/enthusiast, and frankly have too many cars. We've just sold our beautiful 1986 XJ6 Vanden Plas, and this one must go as well.

Since we have owned the car we have paid two seperate mechanics to work on our car. The first on disassemblemed the car and took off. The second lost the hood ornament and side mirrors. This is car is in worse shape than when we bought it and that is true. We took out the seats to have them reupolstered and never put them back in, they are not reupholstered. I have a box full of in parts and old. The second mechanic we had had to rig some kind of gas tank thing in the trunk so we could drive it onto the transport. Our car did the majority of it's sitting in Albuquerque, NM in the dry heat (covered of course). It has been in Florida for a year now. I am sad that we didn't get to do the repairs, but we really want to stay in touch with the next person on their transformation. I didn't believe this car was that big of a deal until I we picked up the drive and was driving it back home. Everyone on the highway was rolling down their windows asking us questions about the car, and then when we got stuck in traffic at a stand still, our truck was surrounded by other drivers asking questions about the car.

After buying the car, I called Jag Magazine and Jag Lovers to find out more information on this car. Everyone kept asking me if this was the red convertible that was on eBay. I was shocked that everyone knew about this car!!! It needs to go to a good home and to someone who has a passion for fixing up Jags. To Nick and Pam Mitchell we are sorry we couldn't do it justice.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
