Car was at auction in '04
www.british-car-auctions.co.uk/pdf/1965%20Jaguar%20MK%202%203.8-Feb04.pdf

Sellers description:
Sale of Vintage, Classic and Collectors’ Motor Vehicles
To be held at Blackbushe, Surrey on Saturday 14th February 2004
JAGUAR Mk 2 3.8
This example, dating from 1965, is finished in white with a red leather trimmed interior. Desirable features include the original all-synchromesh gearbox with overdrive, silver enamelled wire wheels and a dual stainless-steel exhaust. Recorded as a two-owner car, it would appear that the first owner had the car for some 35 years. The paintwork is described as being in good condition and the interior has undergone some refurbishment with the upholstery of the original reclining seats and red carpeting having been replaced, whilst the wood trim is described as good. Mechanically, all is reported as being well with excellent oil pressure displayed on the gauge, and all instrumentation is said to be in order.
The vehicle is offered for sale with a V5 document and an MOT certificate valid to April 2004 along with various invoices.
Estimate: £11,500 - £13,500

Lot 53 of 127: 1965 Jaguar MK II 3.8 Litre

Recent bare metal respray, home market car, uprated for everyday usage

Registration No:EDV156C

Chassis No:233919DN

- First registered by Devon County Council and believed but not warranted to have covered 54,600 miles from new

- Uprated for everyday usage including a high capacity radiator, Kenlowe fan, halogen headlights, polybushed suspension and Viper coil etc, Red leather upholstery

- Recent bare metal respray in Old English White revealed a notably sound shell, sought after 3.8 litre, manual / overdrive car

The vendor purchased this home market, 3.8 litre, manual / overdrive Jaguar MKII in July 2016 with the intention of being able to press it into everyday service. Believed to have covered a genuine 53,000 miles at the time (with a letter on file to that effect), the sports saloon had self-evidently been the subject of much past restoration work including mechanical fettling and a re-trim in Red leather. Already fitted with a high capacity radiator core, the vendor added a Kenlowe fan to improve the cooling still further. The Jaguar has also been improved via the installation of a Viper coil, electronic ignition, facet fuel pump, polybushed suspension and halogen headlights.

Stripped to bare metal for a recent respray in Old English White, 'EDV 156C' was found to show far fewer corrosion repairs than expected. Remarkably straight down the sides for a MKII, its smart paintwork is handsomely offset by Black wire wheels. Starting readily upon inspection and running well during our recent photography session with good oil pressure, this purposeful Jaguar is only for sale because the seller now deems it too smart to take to the supermarket or leave in a multi-storey! Currently showing some 54,600 miles to its odometer - a reading made more credible by the condition of the bodyshell - 'EDV 156C' comes with a factory tool kit, assorted old MOTs and sundry invoices.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
