This 1962 Jaguar Mk II is finished in gray over red leather and is powered by a 3.8-liter inline-six mated to a five-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes chrome 15″ knock-off wire wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, twin SU carburetors, chrome bumpers with overriders, lap belts, rear folding picnic tables, and an aftermarket radio. The car is said to have spent time in Europe and underwent a mechanical and cosmetic refurbishment before it was acquired in 2017 by the current owner who imported it to the US in March 2018. Subsequent work included servicing the coolant and brake fluids, performing an oil change, and replacing the air filter, lower radiator hose, radius arm bushings, and spark plugs and wires. This MK II is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with a clean California title in the owner’s name.
The car is finished in gray, and exterior details include front and rear vent windows, a leaper hood ornament, twin exhaust outlets, a “disc brakes” rear-bumper badge, and bright-finished elements that include the radiator grille, side mirrors, window surrounds, and chrome bumpers with overriders. Various light bulbs were replaced in July 2022.
Chrome 15″ wire wheels are secured with two-eared knockoffs and are wrapped in 185-series Vredestein Sprint Classic tires. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes. Work in 2018 involved replacing the radius arm bushings, and in 2021 the brake fluid was serviced.
The cabin houses front bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in red leather with matching door panels and a gray headliner. An aftermarket radio is mounted in the center stack, burl wood trim accents the dashboard and doors, and wood picnic trays are provided for the rear occupants.
The two-spoke steering wheel features a chrome horn ring and fronts a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and centrally mounted auxiliary gauges for water temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage. The five-digit odometer shows 6k miles, approximately 1k of which were added under current ownership.
The twin-cam 3.8L inline-six is equipped with dual SU carburetors and was rated at 220 horsepower and 245 lb-ft of torque when new. Work since 2018 has included performing an oil change and flushing the coolant in addition to replacing the lower radiator hose and the spark plugs and wires.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission.
Photos taken during various stages of the refurbishment are provided.
