Lot #122723

This 1962 Jaguar Mk II was completed on August 18, 1961 and was refurbished during previous ownership between 2018 and 2020 by Road Scholars of Durham, North Carolina. Work included modifying the replacement 3.8-liter inline-six with a FAST electronic fuel injection system, installing a five-speed manual gearbox and rack-and-pinion steering, and performing a repaint in white. The interior was fitted with Jaguar XJ6 Vanden Plas front seats and reupholstered in black leather. Additional modifications consist of custom four-link rear suspension, a Jaguar Land Rover Classic Infotainment system, central locking, LED lighting, metal rear fender skirts, PerTronix electronic ignition, and an aftermarket clutch and flywheel. This Mk II is now offered by the selling dealer in Houston, Texas, with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Production Record Trace certificate, refurbishment records, spare parts, and a clean Arizona title that lists the vehicle as a 1963 model.

The car was factory-finished in Pearl Grey and underwent a repaint in white during the aforementioned refurbishment. Side-mirror mounting holes in the front fenders were welded closed, and custom metal rear fender skirts were installed at that time. The bumper overriders have been shaved, and additional details include LED lighting, front driving lamps, and twin exhaust outlets.

The 15” wire wheels are secured by knock-off spinners and mounted with Dunlop SP Sport tires that show 2017 and 2019 date codes. A matching spare is found in the trunk. The four-wheel disc brakes were fitted with a replacement booster, and modifications include rack-and-pinion steering along with four-link rear suspension with adjustable coilovers and aluminum trailing arm bushings.

The cabin has been fitted with front bucket seats that were sourced from an XJ6 Vanden Plas and reupholstered in black leather. Replacement black door panels and color-keyed carpets were also installed, along with air conditioning, a central locking system, and a Jaguar Land Rover Classic Infotainment system wired to speakers in the kick panels. A controller for the FAST fuel injection system is attached to the windshield via a suction cup. The removed front seats and interior panels are included in the sale.

A wood-rimmed steering wheel sits ahead of Smiths instrumentation that includes a 140-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset clock, and a suite of auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows approximately 3,500 miles, around 1k of which have been added by the selling dealer. The speedometer was refurbished and fitted with a replacement cable by Palo Alto Speedometer in January 2023. Total mileage is unknown. The removed steering wheel will accompany the vehicle.

The replacement 3.8-liter inline-six is fitted with a FAST electronic fuel injection system and custom intake manifold along with PerTronix electronic ignition, an ECU with a programmable MAP system, an aluminum radiator with an electric fan, a spin-on oil filter conversion, a gear-reduction starter, and an uprated alternator and fuel pump. The battery has also been relocated to the trunk. The removed carburetors and other spare parts are included in the sale.

The replacement five-speed manual gearbox routes power to the rear wheels via an aftermarket clutch and flywheel as well as an overhauled driveshaft.

The Jaguar Heritage Trust Production Record Trace certificate lists the factory colors, identification numbers, and production and dispatch dates.

A collection of photos from the refurbishment can be seen in the gallery, along with receipts from the work that total approximately $120k.

The Arizona title describes the vehicle as a 1963 model.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
