This 1961 Jaguar Mark II was purchased by the seller in California 39 years ago and is powered by a 289ci Windsor V8 equipped with a Holley four-barrel carburetor, an Edelbrock camshaft and intake manifold, and a ported cylinder head. Shifting is through a Tremec T5 five-speed manual transmission, and additional alterations include a dual exhaust system, four-wheel disc brakes, koa interior wood, and a repaint in silver and dark blue. Approximately 12k miles have been added by the seller, and the water pump, timing cover, and harmonic balancer are said to have been replaced in 2019. This Mark II is now offered with a service manual, parts receipts, spare parts, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.

Previously finished in white, the exterior was repainted dark blue and silver by the seller, who notes that the rear fender arches were re-shaped at this time. Exterior features include chrome bumpers with overriders, pop-out rear quarter windows, and a dual exhaust system with quad outlets. Rust bubbles are noted around the lower right corner of the boot lid and trim can be seen.

Chrome-finished 15″ wire wheels with knock-off spinners wear a mixed set of older Cooper and Road King tires which should be replaced according to the seller. The brake system consists of four wheel discs with a Wilwood brake master cylinder and chrome-plated internal hardware. Koni shocks have been fitted out back, and the seller notes that the wheels are in need of truing and that some of the spokes are broken. Corrosion is noted in the spare tire well.

Bolstered front seats are upholstered in gray cloth and feature power lumbar support as well as driver-side power adjustments. Three-point seat belts are fitted for the front occupants. The dashboard and wood trim were re-veneered in koa wood, and a Pioneer cassette radio and speakers have been added.

A Lecarra wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation including a 140-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline. The five-digit odometer shows just over 12k miles, all of which were added by the seller. True mileage is unknown.

The 289ci Windsor V8 was reportedly rebuilt during the seller’s ownership and is paired with a Tremec T5 five-speed manual transmission. Modifications include a Holley four-barrel carburetor, an Edelbrock Performer-Plus camshaft and intake manifold, Crane Cam rocker arms, and a dual exhaust system with tubular headers. The seller states that an A/C compressor and condenser are present, though no evaporator or plumbing are fitted. Maintenance in September 2019 reportedly included replacement of the harmonic balancer, timing cover, and water pump, as well as an oil change.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
