- Faithful alloy recreation by specialist firm Proteus
- Attractive 1951 C-Type Jaguar design
- Known history and recent extensive overhaul
Offered here is an early all-aluminium C-Type Recreation, which faithfully replicates the famous 1951 Le Mans-winning model. It is evident that this car has been well cared for and loved its entire life by the large amount of documentation on file.
This particular car was ordered by John W. Lucas of Surrey in July 1986. He later sold the car to a friend and then bought it back a number of years later. In 2006, the vendor purchased the car from Mr. Lucas, at which time it was sent to Bob Houghton for a thorough check and inspection, along with a service and replacement of any necessary worn parts. As a result, the brake reservoirs, ignition contact points and fuel filter elements were replaced, along with various other items.
The current owner enjoyed the car regularly and commissioned Alpine Eagle of Oxford to maintain the car to a very high standard, conducting regular annual servicing and any other work as required. In January 2010 this beautiful C-Type Recreation was given an overhaul with an engine-out check-up. The gearbox was dismantled and all synchros were replaced, along with the slave and master cylinder. The steering rack gaiters and ball joints were replaced as well, and new adjustable Spax shock absorbers replaced the existing ones. Invoices for all this work are on file. Beautifully presented and a sheer delight to drive, this is an outstanding C-Type replica and one whose maintenance has been conducted to the highest standard and without regard for expense.
