Car to be at Coy's auction 3/10
www.coys.co.uk/auctions/lot.php

Auction description:
Lot 212

Registration Number: VTF461
Chassis Number: 205935DN
First Registered in July 1961, this very original example of Jaguar’s iconic 3.8 Mk II has benefited from a comprehensive bodywork restoration and a complete engine rebuild by Marque specialists. Having covered less than 4000 miles since, the engine is described as in excellent condition.

Finished in Opalescent Dark Green metallic paint (Jaguar colour) with a tan interior, the wood and leather show a delightful aged elegance, which these days with so many over restored examples on the market is increasingly difficult to find.

Complete with chrome wire wheels, overdrive manual gearbox, reutter reclining seats, recent MoT and complete Factory toolkit, this splendid classic saloon would be a worthy addition to any prestigious collection. VTF461 comes with a comprehensive history file and is ready for immediate use.

Estimate: £15000 - £20000

1960 Jaguar Mk2 3.8-Litre Saloon
Registration no. 461 VTF
Chassis no. 205935DN
Engine no. LB5458-8
Sold for £33,350 inc. premium

Representing the Jaguar Mk2 in its ultimate 3.8-litre, manual/overdrive configuration, this example was first registered on 25th July 1961 and supplied by Pye Motors in Lancaster to a Mr H Jackson. '461 VTF' is an exceptionally original example and was acquired by the immediately preceding owner in 2006 from Eagle Cars to whom it had been registered. The current owner acquired the car in March 2010 and has invested in sensible and sympathetic mechanical upgrades, carried out by marque specialists Motorvation, including fitting Coopercraft aluminium billet brake callipers, a Kenlowe thermostatic fan, Pertronix electronic ignition, an SU electronic fuel pump and reconditioned carburettors. The engine bay has been subject to extensive detailing, with many parts replaced (including the wiring loom, starter motor, solenoid, fuel and brake lines, brake servo assembly, water hoses, etc). This work was in addition to a full engine rebuild undertaken circa 5,000 miles ago by M&C Wilkinson.

'461 VTF' is finished in opalescent dark green with tan leather interior. The latter is in very good, un-restored condition, complete with the original carpets, and possesses a delightful patina. The Reutter reclining seats were factory-fitted, as was the heated rear window, while the interior has been upgraded with the desirable (OEM) Derrington steering wheel, period-style stereo and rear seatbelts. Other noteworthy features include Coombs spats, louvred bonnet, pancake air filters and rear seat belts.

Described as in generally excellent condition - bodywork included - this exceptional Mk2 is supplied with a Jaguar Heritage certificate confirming matching numbers, the original factory tool kit, original spats and a bespoke fitted indoor cover. Showing a recorded mileage of 84,200 (believed genuine, and supported by MoT certificates dating back to 1986), '461 VTF' was fully serviced in April 2012 and comes with sundry bills, current road fund licence, MoT to 29th March 2013 and Swansea V5C document.
