Car to be at auction 10/12
www.coys.co.uk/auction.php

Auction description:
Lot 117 - 1960 Jaguar MK II 3.8 Litre Manual Overdrive
Estimate: £14,000 - £18,000
Registration Number: 896 YUC
Chassis Number: 201127DN

This car, with the optional 3.8 litre 220bhp engine, was to be the ultimate Jaguar saloon. First registered on the 8th June 1960 this early example of the legendary MK II is fitted with the recessed visors and early oil pressure gauge. The owner informs us that the car is in very good original condition with most of the paint work appearing to be original which is described as being in good order.

The owner reports that it drives beautifully with the original Moss 'box in good condition with the overdrive working fine. New brake cylinders and servo have been fitted recently so it stops as well as it goes. Finished in dark green with a contrasting light green interior which is described as being in good order; this car is supplied with many old MoT certificates and tax discs along with various invoices and a V5 document.

This represents a great opportunity to acquire a sympathetically maintained MkII capable of providing exhilarating performance with the added bonus of being a genuine and largely original example.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
