1966 Jaguar - 420

HIGHLIGHTS:
Rare left-hand drive manual transmission version
Set of new chrome-spoked rims.
Delivered new in France
Maintenance invoices worth over 30,000 euros

HISTORY/OVERVIEW
The Jaguar 420 (pronounced four-twenty, that is "quattro-venti") is a luxury car produced by the British car manufacturer Jaguar from 1966 to 1968. Presented at the London Motor Show in October 1966, it remained in production for three years, representing the last expression of a series of compact sports sedans offered by Jaguar in the sixties. This vehicle was newly delivered in France and has been meticulously maintained over the years for over 30,000 euros in mechanical, bodywork, interior invoices and spare parts.

EXTERNAL
The external painting was professionally restored in 2022 by the previous owner and is in excellent condition with minimal signs of use. A polishing and detailing treatment has just been completed. A thickness test did not reveal any accidents.

The underside of the car is also completely original and generally very solid, with no signs of accidents or repairs, and it has passed the technical inspection.

Interior
The front and rear seats and the entire interior have been restored, including the carpets and door panels. The rest of the interior, including the dashboard and woodwork, has been well preserved and represents a true English lounge.

MECHANICS
The engine has always been maintained in efficiency and regularly serviced and is in good working order, it starts easily and is usable. The gearbox is functioning, as is the clutch, and the gears work correctly. The tires have original tread. The technical inspection has been passed and is valid until May 2028; no defects for circulation were found. A kit of original chrome spoke wheels has just been installed and is in excellent condition.

A rare 420 with a manual transmission, left-hand drive, delivered new in France, and with many documented restoration invoices is an excellent investment.

Bob"s Comments:
Plenty of paint touch ups, poorly done. Bumpers have many scratches/dents. Replacement engine, no explanation as to why it was replaced. The thermostat housing is not the original style. The flex hose from the air cleaner to the front of the engine is missing. At first glance the interior looks very nice but none of the door cards fit correctly. There are gaps between the door card and the upper door pad allowing painted sheet metal to show. The instrument panel topper (crash pad) is not original and the red stitching is sloppy. The IP warning brake light escutcheon is broken. Center console top is coming off- RH side. Tool kit is missing, NO jack.
