Sellers description:
1964 Daimler MKII
Produced in Coventry England by Daimler following their 1960 merger with Jaguar, the Daimler 2.5 Liter Four Door Saloon was essentially a Jaguar Mark 2 fitted with Daimler badges and the innovative Edward Turner designed 2.5 liter engine. Equipped with hemispherical aluminum alloy cylinder heads, the light weight power plant produced 140 horsepower and was known for out-performing Jaguar’s own 2.4 liter overhead cam in line six cylinder motor. Distinguished by its tasteful fluted chrome grille, rear number plate surround, split-bench front seat and black enamel steering wheel, this lovely automobile was referred to as an elegant “compact executive car” by the Daimler organization and the British motoring press. Equipped with a smooth-shifting Borg Warner three speed automatic transmission and compliant Jaguar suspension, ride characteristics and handling were recognized as both comfortable and refined.
Although this lovely example was fully restored at significant expense during the past six years, it has been kept in climate controlled storage and rarely driven. In light of this, the professionally rebuilt engine has yet to be fully broken in and the spectacular new leather and wood interior is virtually flawless. These considerable improvements combined with a high quality repaint, rebuilt automatic transmission, carburetors, generator, suspension, brakes and many more correct enhancements has returned this classic English sedan back to truly spectacular condition.
