BAT Auction

bringatrailer.com/listing/1967-daimler-sovereign-5/

This 1967 Daimler Sovereign is a right-hand drive saloon that is said to have been initially sold in the United Kingdom and was imported to California under prior ownership. The car was acquired by the seller in 2022, and it was repainted in metallic blue in April 2023. Power is provided by a 4.2-liter inline-six mated to a three-speed automatic transmission, and additional equipment includes dual SU carburetors, 15″ steel wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, power steering, a cowl fresh air vent, beige upholstery, wood dash trim, and Smiths instrumentation. This Daimler Sovereign is now offered with a Nevada title in the name of the seller and their spouse.

Based on the Jaguar 420 saloon, the bodywork features a Daimler-specific hood emblem, fluted grille, and trunk badging. The car was finished in metallic blue at the time of the seller’s acquisition, and it is said to have been repainted with two-stage paint in April 2023. Additional exterior details include a cowl fresh air vent, rear vent windows, quad headlights, dual exhaust outlets, and chrome-plated wrap-around bumpers with overriders.

The 15″ steel wheels wear Daimler-logo hubcaps and bright trim rings along with Coker Classic red-line tires. The car is equipped with independent suspension, power steering, four-wheel disc brakes, and a spare wheel stored beneath the rear cargo deck. The seller notes the car pulls to one side when braking.

The seating surfaces are trimmed in beige upholstery with textured inserts and are complemented by wood veneer trim on the dashboard. Additional appointments include three-point seat belts for the front occupants, dome lights, a push-button starter, an analog clock, a heater, and a push-button radio. A replacement headliner and carpeting were installed under prior ownership. The upper dash pad is cracked and the radio functions intermittently.

The two-spoke steering wheel features a half horn ring and fronts a Smiths 140-mph speedometer, a 5,500-rpm tachometer, and centrally mounted auxiliary readouts for amperage, fuel level, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. The horn does not function. The five-digit odometer shows 80k miles, approximately 3k of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The 4.2-liter inline-six is equipped with dual SU carburetors, Daimler-branded finned aluminum valve covers, and an Optima battery. The oil was changed in May 2023.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission.

Car Number 1A31199BW is shown on the data plate above and matches the VIN on the Nevada title.

The current Nevada title lists a “Non US Vehicle” brand that was issued in September 2022.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
