Auction description:
This excellent example of the desirable Jaguar Mark II comes with full history since new and was originally sold by Brysons of Melbourne to Major Herbert M.Lander of Canberra in December 1966. The car then passed to Ian Bailey of Canberra in February 1984 and on to another resident of the city, Dr. Terry Bossomaier, in July 1986. The next owner was Graeme Smith in Sydney, who bought the Jaguar in 1988, and two years on it passed to Moray Robertson before the most recent owner bought the car in October 1992.

The Jaguar has been the recipient of around $20,000 expenditure in recent years, undergoing a bare metal respray in 1993 and the lovely grey paintwork is still in good order. The original engine was fully rebuilt in 1997 with 8.0:1 compression, straight port E-Type cylinder head, D-Type cams and twin HD8 2-inch carburettors. A Harvey-Bailey Engineering handling kit was fitted with front springs and roll bars front and rear, along with Koni shock absorbers at both ends. Stopping power is courtesy of Coopercraft 4-pot front brake callipers and the car rides on Dayton 6-inch knock-on wire wheels.

The vehicle was maintained by Jag Performance whilst in Melbourne and, more recently, by Concourse Sportscar Restorations in Sydney. To improve drivability, the Mark II has been professionally fitted with air conditioning, power steering and improved electrical system. The car is to be sold with current New South Wales registration and comes with a service book, workshop manual, history file and receipts for work completed. Sold with NO RESERVE.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
