- Well-presented Jaguar sports saloon
- Extensively refurbished mechanicals
- Offered at No Reserve

Supplied with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, this lovely Mark II Jaguar left the Browns Lane factory on January 9, 1963 in the appealing combination of Opalescent Dark Blue with light blue upholstery. Destined for Sagers, the agents for Rhodesia, the Jaguar was equipped with a 3.4-litre engine and manual transmission with overdrive. The car eventually made its way from Africa to Australia and spent many years in storage awaiting restoration with an owner in West Australia before the current Sydney owner saw the Mark II advertised in the local Jaguar Drivers Club magazine in late 2016 and negotiated its purchase. Found to be in good original condition overall, the car needed quite a bit of mechanical work and considerable refurbishment ensued. Argyle Restorations in Perth undertook some rust repairs to the chassis rail and jacking points before the Jaguar relocated to the East Coast and since then every mechanical system has been overhauled, including the brakes (with new master and slave cylinders, new seals in the brake pistons and new pads), steering (with the box reconditioned) and the suspension (with new rear leaf springs, adjustable rear gas shock absorbers, lower ball joints and bushes). A new stainless steel exhaust was fitted, along with a fresh set of tyres. A timing chain rattle detected in 2020 led to an engine overhaul including new valves, hardened valve seats for unleaded fuel along with new chains, guides and tensioners. New big end and main bearings were fitted, the head reconditioned, the carburettors rebuilt and a new oil pump installed, with a manual oil pressure gauge fitted. The cooling system saw a reconditioned radiator, new water pump and correct thermostat fitted, while a modern alternator, new fuel pump and LED lights in the instruments further improved the Jaguars’ usability. The interior has benefited from re-padded front seats, door trim and new carpets while the air conditioning has also been checked over to ensure it works well. Most of the work above was completed by marque specialist Graeme Lord, backed by a detailed receipt file. An ideal club car, perfectly suited to long distance touring in style and comfort, the Jaguar is currently registered on non-transferrable club plates and will therefore be sold both unregistered and with No Reserve, with an original workshop manual and quantity of spares supplied.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
