Fitted from new with the desirable manual gearbox with overdrive, this November 1960 registered 2.4 had just one owner from new until 2006, being acquired by the vendor from its second owner in 2014. It needed the usual dose of recommissioning, but an Accuspark ignition kit and a thorough going over quickly got it running nicely, revealing a sound and solid car which passed its MOT with flying colours, its current test expiring in April 2018 with no advisories recorded.
The vendor had always had a hankering for a MkII sitting on wires, so he purchased a proper conversion kit and a new set of stainless wire wheels (not bolt-on ones), plus tyres, which have improved the look of the car no end. He was not happy with the paintwork and decided to have a go at repainting it himself but, by his own admission, the end result hasn't really done justice to the solid body and decent panel gaps which this car undoubtedly possesses - a professional respray would completely transform it and bring out what is in effect a nice, original, low owner example.
Recently waxoiled and with a sweet-sounding engine, it has proved very reliable, surprisingly rapid, and has been used to go to numerous local shows and events. On offer for little more than the price of a decent Mini, this early MkII has 'potential' written all over it, which just needs to be covered over with a decent coat of paint!
