2nd owner. It was picked up at the factory by the first owner and driven around Europe for 30+ days, to avoid the import tax on new cars. I got it in 2004 and I drive it a couple times a week. It runs fine, the motor is a little tired, compression is down and it burns some oil.
Starts every time and looks good.

This 1966 Jaguar S-Type is a left-hand-drive example powered by a 3.8-liter DOHC inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. The first owner received the car on April 24, 1966 in England and used it to tour Europe, visiting Germany, Switzerland, France, and Italy before shipping it home to Sacramento, California. The second owner purchased the car in 2004 and was a member of the Reno Jaguar Club in Nevada. A dealer sold the car to the Malamut Auto Museum on BaT in April 2017. This S-Type is now offered with a tool kit, owner’s manuals, original documentation, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.

The exterior is finished in white, and the seller states that the left rear quarter panel appears to have been repainted at some time. Badges from the car’s time touring Europe in the 1960s are retained on the grille. Photos illustrate paint touchups and rock chips as well as scratches and pitting on the brightwork.

The wire wheels feature knock-off center caps and are mounted with whitewall radial tires. A brake slave cylinder was replaced in 2018. The sedan was used in filming for director Quentin Tarantino’s next film, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, due to be released in July 2019.

The interior is finished with black leather upholstery on the seats and door panels. The burl wood dashboard is equipped with Smiths instrumentation and toggle switchgear. An AM/FM radio occupies the center stack below a pull-out shelf but does not function.

The odometer shows just under 25k miles, although true mileage is unknown. The steering is power assisted, and an indicator light for the electric overdrive is on the steering column.

Power comes from a 3.8-liter DOHC inline-six equipped with twin SU carburetors. The seller states that rust repairs on the firewall behind the battery were made by a previous owner.

The four-speed manual gearbox is equipped with a floor-mounted shifter and a Laycock de Normanville overdrive. Steve’s Jaguar Service in Los Angeles replaced the clutch slave cylinder last year for $600.

Service and maintenance records dating back to 1966 and the car’s European delivery are included in the sale.
