This 1959 Jaguar Mk IX is a left-hand-drive example that spent approximately three decades off the road under prior ownership and was acquired by the seller as a non-running project in 2016. A 3.4-liter inline-six was installed at some point, and the car has a Borg-Warner three-speed automatic transmission. It is finished in silver and black with a red hood, and the bench seats have been trimmed in gray vinyl. Other details include 16″ steel wheels, a sunroof, rear picnic trays, and interior wood trim. This Mk IX project is now offered at no reserve with spare parts and a North Carolina title in the seller’s name that describes the car as a 1960 model.
This car is one of 10,009 Mk IX examples produced during the three-year production run, and it wears a silver and black finish. The replacement red hood has a Leaper ornament, and other details include a manually operated sunroof, rear fender skirts, and chrome trim.
Steel 16″ wheels wear whitewall tires. The seller notes that front brake components have been removed and are included in the sale, while the rear disc setup remains on the car.
The front and rear bench seats have been reupholstered in gray vinyl, and the cabin has a dash-mounted mirror, rear picnic tables, a rear-area Smith clock, and wood trim.
The four-spoke steering wheel fronts a walnut veneer dashboard with centrally mounted Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset clock as well as a 120-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 5k miles, and total mileage is unknown.
Portions of the sheet metal in the engine bay were removed to accommodate a previously installed air conditioning system, and a 3.4-liter inline-six was also fitted at some point under prior ownership. The seller notes that the engine does not turn over, and a replacement exhaust system has been installed.
The car has a Borg-Warner three-speed automatic transmission.
A radiator is included in the sale, and other spare parts that will accompany the car are shown in the gallery below.
The current North Carolina title is a duplicate.
