Auction description:
The Zurich Auction 2025 Saturday, 01 November 2025
1962 Jaguar Mark X 3.8-Litre Saloon
Estimate: CHF 25'000 - CHF 35'000
This fine Mark X, chassis number 351478BW, is an early 3.8-liter example that was first registered on 6 December 1962 in Bern, witzerland. It is presented in sophisticated dark blue exterior over a red leather interior following a complete body-off restoration in Spain by Clásicos de Mos for a private collector in the late 2000s. In 2009, it briefly changed hands through E. Thiesen KG in Hamburg, Germany, and Krafft Basel AG in Basel, Switzerland, before landing with Swiss enthusiast Martin Volkart. By 2016, the Mark X had joined the current Swiss caretaker, who has since maintained and enjoyed the Jaguar for nearly a decade. Invoices on file indicate that Emil Frey Classics serviced the car in 2015 and 2016 including engine and carburetor tuning, ignition refresh, leak sealing and attention to the Borg-Warner automatic, and again in 2019 with significant front-right suspension work and a new fuel pump. Swiss roadworthiness reports in 2016 and 2022 document very modest use in the current owner's care, recording fewer than 500 km between tests. Cherished and carefully maintained, this elegant Mark X is ready for a new custodian to continue the thoughtful stewardship. Now showing just 5,781 km—likely since its restoration—this elegant saloon is able to waft the whole family in quiet luxury, turning even the shortest trip into an occasion.
