A 1964 Jaguar Mark 2 with the 3.8-liter engine. This left-hand drive vehicle was first registered in the USA and had three different owners there. It was imported to Germany in 1994. Since arriving in Germany, the Jaguar, chassis number P223322DN, has remained in the same family and has historic vehicle registration (H-Zulassung). The Jaguar's history can be traced extensively using various documents. According to the seller, the Mark 2 was restored immediately after import, regardless of cost. Over time, various modifications and additions were carried out by specialist workshops and, where necessary, inspected and approved by TÜV (German Technical Inspection Association). The seller states that these modifications primarily focused on safety and comfort. A Classic Analytics appraisal from 2015 is available, certifying the Jaguar as having a condition rating of 2 and attributing the modifications to an increase in value of approximately €10,000 compared to the average market value. According to the current owner, the Mark 2 has had a total of three owners within the family since it was imported to Germany due to age. The current vehicle inspection (TÜV) is valid until March 2025.
A two-tone beige/white paint scheme adorns the body of this Mark 2. The entire body of the Jaguar was refurbished and preserved after import, then repainted in its current two-tone finish. Overall, the exterior of this Jaguar is in very good condition; only the chrome and trim parts show minimal patina in places. The paint also exhibits minimal signs of aging. The car's glazing and lights are flawless. The critical areas, such as rust on the sills, wheel arches, jack points, and door bottoms, are clearly in excellent condition. This Jaguar Mk2 is otherwise rust-free and shows no signs of wear. The seller can completely rule out any accident history.
New tires ensure good road grip, the original chrome wire wheels still shine as they should, and the brake system, according to the seller, is in 70-90% condition. The brakes have been upgraded to a 3-piston system from the Jaguar E-Type (Series 3). Adjustable Spax shock absorbers have been installed as a suspension modification.
Beige leather seats and wood inlays adorn the interior of this Jaguar Mk2. The restoration work also extended to the interior of the Mark 2: all trim panels and seats were refurbished and reupholstered in genuine leather, the floor mats were custom-made, and the wood trim was clear-coated. All instruments and switches are complete and intact. The following modifications have been installed in this Jaguar: a removable Lecarra steering wheel, 3-point automatic seatbelts, cruise control, electric windows, electronic immobilizer, and a battery cutoff switch in the glove compartment. There is no cause for complaint regarding damage or even signs of wear and tear in the interior of the Mk2.
The five-digit odometer shows a mileage of approximately 22,100 kilometers since the 1994 restoration. Partial service history for the Jaguar 3.8 is available, and all instruments are in perfect working order.
This Jaguar's 3.8-liter inline six-cylinder engine produces 168 hp. The power transmission has been converted to an automatic gearbox from a Jaguar XJ6 (BorgWarner BW66). Further technical modifications include the installation of an alternator, an electronic ignition system, and an oil cooler. H4 headlights were also fitted, and a certified fire extinguishing system was installed. Additionally, an electric water pump, a high-performance radiator, and a Kennlow electric fan were installed. The entire drivetrain underwent a complete overhaul during the restoration, and the electrical system was entirely renewed and, according to the seller, improved in the process. The last service took place in March 2021.
Rust is clearly not an issue on the underside of this Jaguar Mk2. In summary, a Jaguar Mk2 is particularly appealing due to its distinctive body lines, sporty and sonorous engine, and comprehensive equipment. Thanks to the modifications, this Jaguar is perfectly suitable for everyday driving and will prove to be a safe and, in some ways, improved classic car for its future owner, requiring no further work. The seller also notes that all modifications were carried out meticulously and that all original parts that were replaced are still present.
