Auction description:
Lot number 109
Sale Price Not Sold
Make & Model Jaguar S-Type 3.4 Historic Race Car
Registration GJN 899D
Year 1966
Colour Grey
Engine Size 3,442 cc
Chassis No. 1B6519DN
Engine No. KG24368
Documents TBA

Dating from March 1966, this S-Type has had just four owners to date, the vendor acquiring it five years ago from a gentleman who had owned it for 28 years. As you can see, the car has been turned into a historic racer at some point in the past and is now far from standard. The exact spec is too detailed to list in full here but is amply detailed in copious notes on file.

Highlights include: 3.6 full race engine with forged pistons, balanced crank, balanced combustion chambers etc; electronic ignition; 15-row oil cooler; multi-cored heavy duty radiator with uprated fan; alternator conversion; Salisbury LSD; late XJ6 all-synchro 4-speed overdrive 'box.

The front suspension features 420 uprights; Leda adjustable dampers and uprated springs; phosphor bronze wishbone bushes with grease nipples; Harvey Bailey anti-roll bar and nylon bushes throughout. Rear suspension uses Gaz adjustable coilovers/dampers; Harvey Bailey anti-roll bar; strengthened sub-frame and trailing arms with metalastic mountings.

Brakes are XJ6 vented slotted discs all round, ducted at the rear to extract heat via the fuel filler flaps with an AP servo in the passenger footwell and inboard lines. The structure features a fire-proofed bulkhead; boot-mounted alloy fuel tank with Facet fuel pumps, pressure regulator and inboard braided steel fuel lines; LifeLine plumbed-in fire suppression; rear rain light - you get the picture!

Last raced in 2015 (with a Classic Touring Car Racing Club Technical Passport issued in March of that year), it is now in need of some TLC here and there but should give someone lots of fun when it is back on the track where it belongs. It is also road legal, the last MOT having expired in August 2009.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
