This 1968 Jaguar S-Type is powered by a 3.8-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive and it is finished in blue over red leather upholstery. Equipment includes 15″ knock-off wire wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, dual SU carburetors, driving lights, dual exhaust outlets, wood interior trim, and a Pioneer stereo. The car is said to have spent time in the Netherlands prior to being imported to the US by a previous owner, and it was acquired by the seller in 2017. Subsequent work reportedly included fluid changes, repairing the right-rear door lock, installing an alternator, and replacing suspension and braking components. This S-Type is now offered with a clean Texas title in the seller’s name.
The car is finished in dark blue and is said to have been repainted under previous ownership. Exterior details include driving lights, dual side mirrors, chrome bumpers with overriders, dual fuel fillers, and polished dual exhaust outlets. Mounting holes for removed mirrors are visible on both front doors, and noted blemishes include chipped paint near the right headlight, touch-up paint that has been applied to chips on the hood, and a crack in the left rear quarter panel.
The 15″ wire wheels wear two-eared knock-off spinners and are mounted with 195/70 Continental VancoContact 2 tires, while a spare is stored in the trunk. Stopping power is provided by disc brakes at all four corners. The sway bar end links, bushings, and brake slave cylinder are said to have been replaced and a brake fluid flush was reportedly performed in February 2023.
The interior features seating surfaces upholstered in red leather, while wood trim accents the dashboard, door panels, upper door frames, and B-pillars. Appointments include a heater, toggle switches for various vehicle functions, lap belts, and a Pioneer stereo. Cracks are noted in the wood trim and the seller notes that the door locks do not work and the key for the glovebox is missing.
A wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 140-mph speedometer and a tachometer with an inset analog clock. Additional readouts for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage are located in the center stack. The seller notes that the steering column boot was replaced under current ownership. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 5k miles, approximately 200 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The replacement 3.8-liter DOHC inline-six is equipped with dual SU carburetors and was factory rated at 225 horsepower and 245 lb-ft of torque. The seller states that the battery tray has been narrowed, an alternator has been fitted in place of the dynamo, and the spark plugs, alternator, and fuel filter were replaced under current ownership. The removed dynamo is included in the sale, and fluid services are said to have been performed in February 2023.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with Laycock overdrive. The transmission, clutch, and differential fluids were flushed under current ownership.
